Dr Bicheng Yang

Bicheng Yang studied in University of Bath and University of Birmingham in UK for her Master and PhD degree in Bioscience. She joined BGI in 2009 as Project Director for international collaboration and has participated in several genome initiatives, including the potato genome, the lettuce genome, the pigeonpea genome, the foxtail millet genome and the Netherland genome project. She was the Director of international marketing from 2011-2012. She then took the role as the Director of Headquarters Office and Director of Communication and Public Engagement at BGI from 2013-2016. She has been organizing the annual International Conference on Genomics (ICG) since 2009 and plays an instrumental role for the growing of ICG as one of the most influential meetings in ‘omics’ research. Dr. Yang is the Director of BGI Australia since 2016 and based in Brisbane to lead the regional development. BGI Australia has been engaged in more than 30 collaborations with Australian institutions in cancer, infectious diseases, agriculture, environment and conversation biology areas. Dr. Yang has participated in research projects under Global Innovation Linkage, ARC ITTC, ARC Linkage, CRC-P and Horticulture Innovation Fund schemes.
