Dr Sean Bisset

  • Postdoctoral Fellow
  • The University of Queensland

Sean is a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr Conny Turni at the Centre for Animal Science at QAAFI (Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation). His background is in microbiology, with a specific interest in antimicrobial resistance mechanisms and mode-of-action studies. He completed his PhD in New Zealand in 2019, where he focused on deciphering the mechanism of action of a glycosylated antimicrobial peptide. Following this, he spent two years working as a postdoctoral researcher at Umea University in Sweden where he focused on the cell wall of bacteria before returned to New Zealand to run an early-stage biotechnology start-up. Now located in Brisbane, Sean is excited to use his skills in science and experience with industry to help lead the microbiology aspect of CEA-StAR!
